Answers: How much should I ask for to get paid?

Thank author of this post/commentI have applied for a job as a receptionist at a luxury dealership. I've done great with all interviews, now I just need to go back and discuss my schedule and pay. I have 4 years experience doing front desk and customer service/billing. I worked at my current job 3 years, I left there to be a CSR where I was paid $12.50/hr (worked 8 months), but had to leave due to personal reasons. Once I came back to my current job, the Dr. would only pay me $11.50 (she is extremely stingy & greedy with money, she has moved me from FT to PT). I would like to get back on track with my old pay of $12.50, so would it be reasonable to ask for $12.50 at this place or even $13.00? Is that too much or should I just ask for $12.00 to start off from where I am NOW. I have wonderful references at all jobs I've worked, would that make a difference? THANKS!

One thing that governs a lot of Human Resources in small and large companies alike is the cost of good labour. Given that no enterprise can exist without good people driving it, I find it amazing how employers always try to short change their most valuable asset - their staff.

One thing that I have found to be the most powerful in negotiations like this is to say that unless you can receive the wage you need, you will have to start looking for other opportunities elsewhere. More often than not, your manager will meet this with skepticism. However once you start asking for time off to attend job interviews, managers usually see you are serious and then start taking your negotiation a lot more seriously.

Well, I understand that you simply want to get a good pay because you have been a good employee from your previous job a customer service. Well I think it would be better if you try to take a look at the contract and job offer first. I think after few months or so, you will also get an increase which would also depend on your performance in your workplace.

When asking about how much you should get paid for a job, you usually consider first your qualifications and that includes your experience; the demands of the job being offered to you; and how much is a reasonable or good pay that matches your qualification. Sometimes, it's also good to know how much others are paid for the same type of job. How much you will get paid for depends on your negotiation with the employer. Just be sure to accept a job that you get paid fairly.

Hi there!

I know you want a job that could give you a high salary for the things that you will be doing but I think the simplest way to gain their trust and respect is for you to give your full working abilities in the things they want you to do. Hope this will help you.

Thank you so much and have a great day to all of you guys!

Your salary depends on the quality of your work. Additional factors are your expertise in this career and your degree of education. You can negotiate with the people you are dealing with regarding this matter so that you can talk it over clearly.

I think it is important that you have passion on your work. This will inspire you from doing the best that you can. Thank you very much and have a nice day ahead!
